The angel rises from the waves with splashes of tiny pearls. She holds a child in her arms and a seagull floates near her. Ribbons and stars surround her. I used lots of shades of blue and sea greens for the swirling waves crashing at her feet ... her dress is emerald. Angel of the Sea has a baby for several resons. I have baptized my children in the ocean, my blonde daughter has a blonde baby daughter and we live by the sea, many people asked for an angel of the sea to protect their family who work or travel on the ocean and I felt it represented the small and precious gifts of the sea. It could also mean the Christ Child, the great fisher of souls held in His mothers arms. She also seems to float carrying what is closest to her heart over the crashing waves.

So sweet and charming, this design is a must stitch. It shows a precious child in a garden of hollyhocks and lavender, she holds white roses with satin ribbons. Combinations of embroidery stitches using Pearl Cotton and floss create the illusion of real lace across the botton like a picket fence enclosing her garden. The top of the fabric is dyed so that she has sunshine on top and the darker blue is a background for the lace.

Suggested stitching on 32 count Amsterdam Blue Linen bleached on top half. Design area is 7-1/4 x 7". Stitch count is 117 x 110.
